SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWeb) March 12, 2007 -- The Honest Kitchen, a San Diego based raw pet food company, has launched a revamped website and a new blog. With twenty percent of sales coming from online orders, founder Lucy Postins has shifted the focus of the company's online presence, to become a resource for pet owners on holistic care for animals, and a place to learn about the benefits of organic raw pet food.
The Honest Kitchen is not new to the online realm. With the birth of the company in 2002 came the launch of the first The Honest Kitchen website (still hosted at TheHonestKitchen.com) Postins said she knew the business would take off when she first went onto the company's site to test the ordering process and "there was already an order from a customer in Maryland!"
With the website facelift, The Honest Kitchen hopes to make shopping for natural pet food, and information, more user-friendly. The site showcases some of the company's grassroots marketing efforts such as its innovative "Work For Food" program as well as "Pawlanthropy", the company's charitable activities; The Honest Kitchen donated more than 14% of net profits to humanitarian, animal welfare and environmental non-profit causes in 2006.
The new Blog also allows The Honest Kitchen customers an interactive space where they can educate themselves about holistic approaches to dog and cat nutrition, discuss the brand, post healthy pet food recipes, and share pet owning tips from their own experiences. Several journalists, authors and celebrity users will be writing guest posts on the Blog in the coming months.
The Honest Kitchen was chosen as "Dog Food of the Year" for 2005 and 2006 by PupLife.com. The benefits of switching to a dehydrated raw diet are consistently touted in the media and sales of dehydrated raw dog food continue to rise. The Honest Kitchen's natural dog and cat foods are currently sold at more than 800 national resellers, including chains such as Pet People, Pet Food Express and Whole Foods. The company's policy is not to sell through big-box retailers. The Honest Kitchen is a member of the Organic Trade Association and offers organic ingredients in may of their raw dog and cat food products.
The company will be launching a new canine diet in March, an expanded line of treats in the summer and another new product this fall.
